PLEASANT AFTERNOON

The Parish Hall was tastefully decorated with camellias and ' daffodils on Wednesday afternoon when the ladies of the Angliean : Guild entertained members- of the Presbyterian and Methodist Ladies' Guilds at a social afternoon. Mrs. E. L. Hyde (president) and Mrs. Parr (secretary) welcomed the guests as they arrived. • Th^ afternoon was taken up with :a friendly gathering, all .ioinlng in : to make the social a very successful function. Miss Munford delighted those present with a number of items on the piano, Mrs. yaughn entertained with a recitation, Mrs. Allerby rendered several vocal items accompanied on the piano by Mrs. H. C. Easton, of Levin, and the Rev. J. H. Datson presented a num- • ber of fascinating sleight of hand :tricks. During the afternoon a number of competitions were conducted and the winners were: Smelling competition, Mrs. J. Sinclair; memory test, Mrs. J. H. Datson; quoits, Mrs. B. Watson. A competition for a child's Irock was won by Miss L. Wood. A delightful afternoon tea, which ! was really a credit to the ladies ' responsible, was wheeled among ■ the guests on dinner wagons. Following the afternoon tea, the Rev. J. H. Datson thanked the visitors for coming along, especially those who were present from Palmerston North, Levin and Dannevirke. He hoped thgit the three guilds would get together more often, as the little gatherings were much enjoyed by all and served to ; bring the people together. All ! those present expressed delight in ■the manner in which the function was conducted, and hoped that I further such afternoons would oe , arranged in the near future. As the guests left the hall they ' were farewelled by Mr. aild Mrs. Datson and Mrs. Hyde.
