Sir Miles Thomas, at the annual meeting of Morris IMotors, contended that if 11)31) conditions, wages, taxation and nmterial prie.es were operative, a car now costing £444 could be sold for £1(70. This demonstrated the eeonomie vortex ereated when wages and priees ehased; each other. Oonsidering inereased produetion costs, the basic priee increase was not unfavourable in eomparison with the priee rise in other amenities. Jndustrial progress depended on the establishment of a eommuiiity interest be--tween employers and employees. An equitable spread of benefits aecrued fri.m industry, was essential.
