WORK ON WAIOPEHU TRACK
FURTHER PROGRESS MADE , l Last Sunday 15 members of 'tli^! Levin -Waiopehu Tramping , , Club' had a day's outing on the'Waio-r' pehu Track. The primary work was the sawing of very, large. wind-^ falls, but the track has now been cleared -nearly to the Bush Corner'. Many .trampers will be plpased, ,t,o hear that the large wipdfall 30 yards or more this side of Palmer'k camp has been avoided by a. deviar tion around its base. The billy was boiled and lupch eaten at the first tarn from Palmer's Camp. The weather was warm and the main ranges were clearly visible, with their heavy coating of snow. After lunch one party continued blazing and clearing through the new country,* while the remainder progressed with the sawing of the larger logs. By 3.30 p.m. a halt was called and the party made its way back to Palmer's Camp, where the lady members of the club had a fire going: and. the billy .boiling. „ Afternoon :trea cwas "disposed. of. and thh trampers dhen left ' for "the e^ge of the" bush, thence to the Pip.e Br|dge and their' transporfe. r • •' ' '
