An underworld feud between tw well-known criminals, dating back many years, is believed to lie behind the inurder last niglit of a raan aud a woman and the wounding oi' four otlier people. The, poliee have so far been unsuecessful in traeing the xnovements of a man who bnrst iuijt-c) a drinking partv at Waterloo and seored six hits with seven i-hots from a revolver. Detectives are combing the metropolitan area and suburbs to lind a man who they believe ean give them valuable inforniation on the shootiug. Jlembers of a consorting squad who know the man well, have joined a special team oi' detectives who are raiding the known haunts, in wireless cars. An earlier inessage stated that a man and a woman were fatally shot and four other people wouiuled as a result of a revolver affray in a two-roomed wooden eottage in the suburb oi' Waterloo late last niglit. When the poliee arrived they found Miss Marjorie Xur.se, aged 19, dead in the kitehen witli a bullet hole in her forehead. Alfred Dawes, a dealer, aged 2(5, who was also shot in the liead, died in the Hydney Hospital earlv tliis morning. The deceased man's father and wife and two voung men are in hospital suffering from bullet wounds. According to the storv of deceased s wife, a man entered the kitehen pointing a gun at the people sitting at a table. One of the men cliarged him and pushed the revolver away. There was a shot and she felt a burning sensation in her left shoulder. Just before she fainted she lieard a series of shots. The police say that earlier there had been a brawl in the street outside the eottage. The weapon used was an American service type revolver of ..'18 calibre.
