Personal Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan, of Lower Hutt, were among the visitors to Otaki yesterday. ' Mr. K. Hager has left for Anakiwa, Marlborough Bounds, on nonday for ten days. Mrs. R. S. R. Francis, who has been spending a brief holiday in Otaki, has returned to her home at Hastings. Mrs. George Wine, St. Heliers, Auc^aiiu, aiiu. Mrs. 5ohn Cuff, of Paeroa . have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Cottle, Te Horo, for the Ohau School jubilee celebrations. Mr. Matenga Baker, of Otaki, has been appointed a representatiVe on the Otaki-Porirua College Trust Board., At the last meeting of the board occasion was taken to farewell Bishop Holland, and Mr. Baker was one of the principal speakers, as representative of the Maori race. Children Enter Health Camp Aiios-her 86 children ii'um thf Wellington, Taranaki and Hawke'f Bay districts have been admitted co the Otaki Health Camp for six weeks. The camp has had no stait shortages recently. This has beoj fortunate, because during the pasmonth therc hn.ve been many cases of mumps and influenza. Work in Rivers Two more nver Ureglines similor to the one bcing assembled at Otaki have arrived in New Zealand and will be eventually v.secl in the South Island for flood prevention work. Certain electrical parts are av/aited before the machines can be assembled. The Otaki plant will bc in operation shortly with tlfe arrival of generatiiag equipment. Two miles of the Otaki River wui be excavated to a width of 200ft. and a depth of eight feet with the ebjective of eliminating fiooding.
Joint Sanatorium Plan The Wellington Kospi'al Board decided last night to join with the Western Districts Sanatorium Committee in providing for ihe sanatorium treatment of tubereuTosis patients. This, it was mad* .lear during ihe ciiscussioii at the meeting, means that the board will abandon its idea to build its own sanatorium at Mackay's Crossing and will participate in the cost of erection and maintenance of a new sanatorium of 200 beds on a site within the districts concerned. Wellington, it is proposed will have two delegates and four votes on the board to control the sanatorium, with Taranaki, Wanganui and Palmerston North each having one delegate and two votes and Stratford, Hawera, Patea ano. Taumarunui, each one delegate and one vote'.
