. . . i P. . M,,m fl CAMP SltE PLANTING A meeting of the Otaki Commercial Association was held on Wednesday night.,. the president, Mr. W. McBeth presiding. The secretary (Mr. J. D. Avery) stated . that the Beautifying Society in Wellington had advised that it had left trees to be forwarded to Otaki, but that on application it was ascertained tliat the trees could not be located. It was agreed to "make further enquiries. While discussing the matters of beautifing in reference to the new camping site, it was reported that recently several had attended on the ground and had accomplished some good work, and that a aumber of trees had been planted. It was, however, -agreed that more help was needed, and it is hoped that . several local residents will attend on the camp site at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning with the object of doing further improvement. The question of improving the cemetery grounds, as desired by the association, had been placed before the Otaki Borough Council, and it had been promised that the matter would be given attention, in fact some work had been effected on the ground of recent date. A letter was received from the Mayor (Mr. C. F. Atmore) relative to the proposed war memorial hall, and he asked the association to elect a.delegdte'to attend meetings. Mr. Harold Taylor was appointed. The matter of help from the Automobile Association was desired, but it. was stated that although application had been made nothing had been accomplished. It was pointed out that the Automobile Association had a number of raembers in this district, and it eould not be iinderstood why it had not oflered help in connection with the camp, instead of- spending all money elsewhere. It was agreed that further representation be made for assistance.
