WARNING TO BUTCHERS
PENALTIES WILL BE HIGHER OHRTRTCHTTRCH, August 29. A warning that butchers must expect higher penalties in future for breaches of the Rationing Emergency Regulatious, was given by Mr. H. P. Lawry, 1 K.M., in the Magistrate's Court. Andrew Klillar, butcher, of 674 Barbadoes Sfreel, pleaded guilt.y to two charges of making false and misleading statements by failing to declare on trader's authorities to aerpiire meat, a lotal of 15,640 lb. of rationed meat obtained from the Wliolesale Meat Co., Ltd. Millar was tinod £10 and costs on one charge and £5 and costs on another. The discrepancy was discovered when a eheck was made by the Rationing Department, of returns made by Millar and the "Meat Company between Januarv 8 and Juhe 8, said Senior Dete.ctive 1*7 J. Bradv. When interviewed by Detective Sergeant N. Thomson, Millar said he. was worried by overwork and short stalT. No subsidv would be paid on the meat which would subscquently be deducted from other authorities, added the Senior Detective.
