LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
THIRD GRADE SELECTION •Sir, — I would like to use your columns to air a grievance which is freely discussed in local football circles. I refer to the practice of the management committee of the Horo whenua Rugby Union in allowing junior grade players to be selected for third grade representative matches. This is distinctly unfair, not only to the opponents but also to the promising young players in the third grade section. An instance of this is shown by the fact that last Saturday both five-eighths were from the junior grade, whereas genuine third grade players were excluded. Further ^ more, in the third grade team published for Saturday, one of the backs is a junior. The object of this letter is not to criticise the players but those responsible for this practice. There is no honour in winning a match in an unsportsman-like manner. Yours etc., "FAIR PLAY." Levin, Aug. 29.
