Barnett, Senr., . are spending a holiday in the Tara1 naki district, where they are the guests of their son. | The friends of Mr. Harold Hook : and his daughter, Dawn, v/ill be interested to hear that they arrived in Melbourne about two weeks ago by the Norwegian steamer Tai Sha from South Africa. Owing to shipping difRculties, Mr. and Miss Hook are being held up in Austraiia, but hope to arrive in New Zealand by the first available boat. Euchre Winners Prize winners in the euchre ' tournament conducted by the local branch of the Labour Party in Laurvig's Hall on Friday evening were Mrs. Thorne and Mr. R. • Johnson. RepresentatiYe Basketball The following players from the Shannon Basketball Club have been chosen to play in the Horowhenua representative basketball team, which will compete in the tournament at Rotorua: Misses J., Pigott, K. Nepia and L. Pedersen.' Mrs. C. D. Gyde is a reserve. Shop Renovations The business premises of the Shannon Fish Supply have undergone complete renovations during the past week, and will reopen under the management of Mr. George Renwick on Monday next. As the dining rooms are not yet completed these will not reopen for a week or so.
