MANGAORE DEFEAT BUCKLEY On Sunday teams from Mangaore ; and Buckiey met in a return match iac Buckiey. Mangaore were suc- ■ cessfiu in scoring a win over the | home side. The results were as folt lows, Mangaore players being men- ! tioned first: Chambers defeated H. j Mabey, Boon lost to W. Stern, HigI gie defeated Harding, Simes j defeated V. Picard, Baker defeated ; Downes, Harris and Bell all square, ; Beech defeated Thurston, Booker lost to Karena. Ladies: Mrs. Boon , and Mrs. Baker all square, Mrs. • Beech and Mrs. Higgie ail square. ! 1946 Championships . The first games oi the 1946 j championships were played during
1 the week-end and the following : were the results of games played. Senior: N. Mabey defeated. H. ; Stern, F. Picard defeated J. ! Mabey two up and one to play. ■ Junior: W. Stern defeated T. Boon , two and one. "Top Dogs" i In the "top dogs" competition match played over the week-end, i D. Higgie and J. Chambers defeated : the holders, J. Mabey and W. I Stern, three and one in a vejy i interesting game. On September 8 the challengers will be F. and V. i Picard, who were the first holders ' of the title. The Picard Bros. are ■ very confident, but the present : holders are keen to retain the title and some most interesting golf , should be witnessed. ; A fourball best ball bogey match | was also played over the week-end, and was won by J. Chambers and Baker one up. Next Sunday, a team from Buck- : ley will travel to Tui Glen for the annual match. ..Members , are reminded that the cafe is now closed at Tui Glen and members are requested to make their own arrangements regarding lunch.
