AUSTRALIAN TEAM TO BE INVITED

TAURANGA, August 2/. At a meeting of the New Zealand Basketball Referees' Association in
Tauranga, it was deeided that the local examination be reeognised by all centres so that, in the event of a referee transferring to another association, slie vvould be eligible for the New Zealand theoretical examination. The election of ofticers resulted: — President, Miss S. E. Foster (Dunedin) ; vice-presidents, Miss M. E. Armstrong (Wellington), Mrs. Mclunes (Wellington), Miss D. Crumpton (Soutliland) and Mrs. Cairney (Cauterbury) ; secre-taiy-treasurer, Mrs. Mayliew (Dunedin); lion. auditor, Miss M. Taverner (Dunediii) ; delegates to New Zealaud
Council, Mrs. Mcinnes and Miss Foster; theoretical examiner, Miss Foster; practical exaininers, North island, Mrs. H. D. Muir (Wellington), Mrs. D. Knuckey (Eltham) and Miss A. Naylor (Tauranga) ; South Island, Miss Foster, Mrs. Cairney and Mf. Malcoliuson (Geraldine). The New Zealand Council of Basketball Association, at tlie annual meeting loday, deeided that the 1947 tournament be h.eld at Nelson. The meeting also agreed to extend an invitation to the Australian Basketball Association to send an Australian representative teain to New Zealand next year, arrangexnents for the tour to be left in the hands of th.e New Zealand executive, and in the meantime the executive ascei'tain from associations to wliat extent they are prepared to help finaticially.
