South African Comments ALLEGED PROPAGANDA

Received Wednesday, 10.50 a.m. OARETOWN, Aug. 27. Commenting on New Zealand Rugby Union official J. Rrendevilte's syggestion that tlie 1948 New Zealand rugby touring team may include Maor-is,. the Nationalist Airiicaans newspaper "Dietransvaaler" under the heading "Politics m Interhational Rugby" states: "Such a team would not be accept-? able in Sodth Africa and New Zealand authorities should know it." The paper warns the South African Kugoy Board not to allow the game Gp be misused for an attempt by New Zealand to carry on a sort of political propaganda. Other opmions quoted in the "Natal Mercury" inc'luded Natal's captain, Bowdon Ooombe: "We played Maoris in the Middle East; uhey were grand sportsmen and' were just New Zealanders to us on the field.". New Zealander referee Doctor Jack Drummond: "If they were good enough to fight alongside south Africans they are good enough to play rugby with."
