Mr. and Mrs. G. Syder, of Dunedin, are visitors to Levin, and are staying with Mrs. Syder's brother, Mr. J. W. Hayfield, Kent Street, Levin. It "is reported that the Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Roberts), whbse health is not as good as it might be, has definitely decided to retire from politics at the 'end of the present Parliament. He has been advised by his doctor to take a long rest and is contemplating a sea voyage to England as ">art thereof, as he is planning to pay a visit to the land of his birth. Before the Horowhenua Electric Power Board began its meeting yesterday, Mr. W. G. Phillips was welcomed back to the bpard's employ after serving overseas in the armed .forces. Speaking on behalf of the board, the chairman (Mr. G. A. Monk) congratulated Mr. Phillips on his retur-n, and said that he hoped he would have no difficulty in settling down to his old work. Mr. Phillips made a brief reply, thanking the board for its welcome.
