INDUSTRY DISCUSSED

j BOROUGH COUNCIL SETS UP v COMMITTEE Representatives of a well-known ' manufacturing firm of women 's clothing recently visited "Shannon looking for a suitable building in which to start a branch factory. This firm is prepared to employ up to 50 women workers if the necessary floor space is available. The town clerk (Mr. J. T. Bovisl, who interviewed the representatives, brought the matter before the notice of the Shannon Borough' Council at their meeting last week, and pointed out that the floor space was a problem. He had written them advising that about 400 square feet of space was available in Shannon. All councillors agreed that the starting of the branch factory would be a good thing for the town, and it was unfortunate that sufficient floor space was not available. After discussing the matter at some length it was decided to set up a committee comprising the Mayor (Mr. R. E. Downes) , Cr. R. R. Lind and the town clerk to go Curther with the proposition.
