GRATUITIES TO 1942
HOMESERVICEMEN'S CLAIM The New Zealand Homeservieemen 's' Association, by decision of the annual conference in Wellington last week, is to urge the Governinent . to make paymcnts of gratuities in respect to six or more months' service prior to January 10, 1912, which was the offieial dato for general rnobilisation of forces in the Dominion. A rcmit to this effcct evoked considerable discussion, and was carried unanimously. Branches were asked to cite cascs where payments of gratuities did not include the period mentioned. The recommendation of the Dominion exeeutive that Canteen and National Patriotie Funds should be kept separate was also adopted, though there was a division of opiuion on tho constitution of the projiosed controlling board. The conference • decided that the board should consist of tliree fepresentatives of the Homeservieemen 's Association and an oqual uumber representing exoverseas orgamsutions, together with a separate secretary. it was reported that" on the- registration of the rules being made in the near future that the design of the badge would be protected and that it would be illegal for it to be worn by unauthorised persous.
