PcfsoiirI ( Mr. Freeth, of the Otaki State | School staff, will spend his holidays | in Nelson. J Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Nash are al prcsent on holiday in Otaki. Before leaving for their home at Wairoa they will visit Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Kilmister and family, of Stratford, are among the visitors to Otaki. For some time Mr. Kilmister was manager of the Civic Theatre. Mrs. R. Jury, of Foxton and late of Otaki, has undergone a successful operation in a private hospital in Palmerston North, and is reported to be making good progress. Mr. James and Miss Bartholomew have left for Raetilii to attend the golden jubilee of the school there, and thus renew acquaintancc with old friends. School Holidays The various State schools in the Wellington district "broke up" yesterday for the second term holidays. Younger Set Dancc The Te Horo Younger Set will hold another of their popuiar dances on Saturday next, August 31, wh-en a free bus will leave the post office at 8.15 p.m. Basketball Game An interesting, evcn if not scientific, game of basketbn.il was played at the Otaki State School yesterday, when a match between che staff and children eventuated. Much pleasure was derived, and although the staff was somewhat new to the game they managed to play a drawn game — four goals each. Card Afternoon A very enjoyable Gay was spent at the residence of Mrs. W. McBetli on Wednesday, when funds raised were for the Municipal Croquet Club. The room was gaily decorated with a choice array of spring flowers, while the hostesses, Mesdames Yo.ung, Shaw, Cobb and A. Wilson, provided a delicious afternoon tea. Winners were as follows: Bridge, Miss Clark; 500. Mrs. Evans. Plan Your Meals Save food for Britain.
