Opening of Trotting Season At Addington

WELLINGTON, This Day. The only fixture to hold the interest of turf followers to-morrciw will be the Taranaki and -Egmont- Wanganui Hunt Clubs' combined meeting at New Plymouth. The heaVy rain experienced in the Nofth Island during the week has left the New Plymohth course heayy, and even if good weather prevails from riow until after the pieeting it will hardly effect improvement in the going. The fields have filled out well, and under the existing conditions it looks like the mudlarks scoring a good share of the. stake money. The 1946-47 trotting season will dpen at Addington to-morrow wheh the Metropolitan Trotting Club will conduct the opening day of its August fixture. Form in most of the etents is obscure, but performances in the latter stage of the past season might provide a fairly good guide. Betting will be win and place at both meetings. Prospects are:
