WHALES DAMAGE BOAT
Received Thursday, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 22. Two whales attacked and damaged a 60-ton vessel between Brisbane aud Sydney. The boat reaclied Sydney today in a strained condition with a damaged keel and bent propellershaft. When at sea the craft was lifted bodily from the water. A member of Ihe crew saw a wlrale rnbbing along side and struck at it witli a baton. The whale missed the sliip by inches with a bloW from its tail and bent the propellershatt. The other whale then dived under tlie sliip tearing a nine t'ool length of steel from the keel.
