INTERESTING ADDRESS BY MISS BARGROVE
In spite of very inclement wea,her the Anglican Hall was filled to capacity on Tuesday for a com afternoon, organised by All Saints' Ladies' Guild. The hall was briglil ■with flowors, berries and greenery. The guest speaker, who was introduced by Miss Holmes, president of the guild, was Miss Violet. Bargrove, Matron of the C.M.S. Hospital in Hangchow, China, who gave a mcst ■ interesting talk, covering the occupation of the city iibyuithq . Jqpanq.?)g. ;g,pcj,M^.qe .,yea,p§,'? internment in Shanghai. Many questions were asked at the conclusion of the talk, which Miss Bargrove answered most fully. Two pianoforte solos were given cy Miss H. Lea. Tea was served md during the afternoon a lovely iouquefc of spring fiowers was preented to the guest of honour. At the conclusion Canon Fry croposed a hearty vote of 'thanks to he speaker on behalf of those cresent, which was carried by icclamation. The singing of the Doxology jrought the afternoon to a close.
