Emptied of its content of 25.000 cigarettes, a rifled case intended for transhipment for Suva. was discovered when the cargo from London was being unloaded from the New Zealand Shipping Co. liner Rimutaka at Auckland. Evidence pointed to the possibility that the theft occurred before the lineT left London ahd even possibly before the case was loaded into the hold.
In the Magistrate's Court, ! Timaru, Bertram Anderson, age'd 26, of Wellington, also known as Bertram Coltman, admitted a charge of bigamy and was committed to the Supreme Court at Dunedin for sentence. Accused married at Woodville in June, 1943, and went through a form of marfiage at Timaru in October, 1945, there being a child of this "marriage" born recently.
