GEORGE PRICE RETIRING
Aecording to a recent report from Australia, George Price, trainer oi Windbag for the Melbourne Cup iii 1025 and for nuiny years leading Randwick trainer, has stated his intention to retire shortly. .George Price is a brother of Mr; W. Price, well-known New Zealaud startoij and also of Mr. C. Price, licensee ot the Kangitikei Hotel, Bulls. George Price was oue of tl\e leading jockeys in his day, and had tlie record of winning the Kangitikei Cup 011 Fakir (1902), Motor (1903), Convoy (1904) and Marguerite '(1907). iiicideiitally, liis brother, W. Price, woii the Kangitikei Cup 011 Arniistice (1905) and Tangimoana (1908), and C. Price scored on Kewi Poto in 1916. He had inuuediate suceess in Australia, winning with Bcarlet in tho Bydney Cup in 1924, and the following year Windbag, then a threc-year-old, beat all but Lilypond after being nearly down when several liorscs felJ. Two days earlier Windbag had won the A.J.C. Bt. Leger., I11 .192(3 Price trained Murray Iving, the neglected candidate from his stable which started at 200 to 1 to stage a sensational win. Other good winners from his stable included VciJmond, Bir .Jolui, Waikare, Bea.ulivre and the brilliant New Zealand maro Cuddle.
