CALCUTTA SITUATION UNDER CONTROL
1 1 Received Tuesday, 11.30 p.m. LONDON, August 20. The situation in Calcutta is firmly under control and the city is returning to normal, says the New Delhi radio. Ageney correspondents in Calcutta roport that tlie night passed quietly tliough there were still stray assaults and arson incidents. The Nationalist Hindustan Rtandard estimates the damage from four days of rioting at £4,000,000. The Associated Press correspondent states intensified precautions against the spread of disease, are being talcen. The removal of the putrefying corpses is- a slow jok and the feeding and housing of thousands of homeless people an onerous problem.
