In tlie" first three weelcs of bread rationing, 109,000 Cons of flour, or near]y 33 per cent. of the previous consump--tion, was saved, said' the Minister of Food (Mr Straehey) speaking at Dundee. He pointed out that Britain usually used 1U0,000 tons of flour every week. . In the first week of bread rationing, Britain used 71,000 tons, in the second week 69,000 tons, and in the third 63,000 tons. Mr. Straehey concluded by saying that the Government would know within a few weelcs what the future for food would be. He warned that the saving could not continue at such a rate. That would be impossible for various r'efisons. •Leading bakeries and millers are comnienting doubtfully on the 33 per cent. figure and quote figures nearer ten per cent. for their Own savings.
