HASTINGS, Aug. 17.^ Caught by a special police patrol in the act of breaking and entering the Regent Theatre in Hastings in the early hours of this morning, the Hastings police have apprehended three schooiboys who are oelieved to liave been responsibly for a number of the rccent incidents of brealcing and entering and theft in the business area of the town. The prevalence of incidents of late had caused tlie police to adopt unusual precautions and • vigilanee, and the serviees of the Napier police were co-opted. Shortlv after 2 o'cloclc this morning fonstable P. Millcr, of Napier, wa® patrolling Heretaunga Street in plain flothes, and he caught three boys in the aet of entering the. theatre. Con stable Miller took the eldest of the hovs, who was 10 vears of age, to the police station and subsequently thi® morning at a sitting of the Polwe Court this bov was eharged with breaking and entering with intent to commit theft, He was remanded to apnear in the Children 's Court on Tuesday. The other two boys, both aged 1.1 vears, were later apprehended, and thev, too, wili app'ear in the Children1*? Court.
