Otago eontributed to its outstanding reconl in cross-countrv runniug when two of its reproseutatives had clear-eul. wins in the senior and junior natiouilJ eross-couiitry - championsliips at Tren thani on Saturday. in the senior event over 6| miles, W. 11. Nelson led for most of the journey to come home an eusy winner, Imin osec ahead of \V. J. Wells, the present three-mile track ehampion. Otago had live men home out of the lirst six. I). I\ llul.Lon made no race of the junior event. 1 lo won very easily i'roui L. King (Auckland). iieconds only separated A. Rawnsley Auckland), R. Read (Wellington) aud -A. v White (Auckland) who iiiiished in that order beliind the leaders. Otago had a comfortable win in the senior teams ' race with Wellington seeond and Auckland third. Auckland repeated tlieir suceess of last year in the junior teams race with Otago ruuners-up and Wellington next, The course was very heavy at the oufset. Further heavy rain dunng the afternoon, acconipanied by a bitingly i.'old wind, made conditions most diflicult.
