INDONESIAN INDEPENDENCE
ALLIES BAN COMMEMORATIVE CEREMONIES Received Saturday, 9.40 a.m. BATAVIA, Aug. 16. Commemorative ceremonies and demonstrations have been banned by the Allied authorities to-morrow, the first anniversary of the declaration of independence issued by the Indonesian Republicans. Allied troops have been ordered to be in their quarters by 9 p.m.
