COMMITTEE'S REPLY

.^MEMORIAL HALE CRITICS When a letter which appeared in the Press in connection with the proposed war memorial hall, and ugned "Look Before You Leap,' was referred to the memorial hall bommittee at a meeting in the Councii Chambers on Thursday evening, Mr. R. R. Lind, chairman jf the committee, stated: "There was a public meeting cailed in April to discuss the erection of a suitable war memorial to those men who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War II. Why was that meeting not better attended? Have the public lost sight of the honour due to the boys that went overseas from this town? Those that felt the obligation selected a committee to go into ways and means of building a war memorial hall." Mr. Lind went 011 to state that it was generally accepted that a public hall in Shannon could not pay its way, and it would be the duty of every citkzen of the town and district to see that the memorial hall was kept in a^ suitable condition for such a building.
