The prices throughout were lirm and the sale went on in an atniospliere of good huniour. mainly directed at the departed Japanese, until two magnificent canteens of cutlery, not of Japanese nrake, were put up. One purchaser took both canteens for £280. Two large blue and white vases brouglit £25 each while one chnsonne vase brouglit £4(1 and another £41. A 22-carat gold dinner service of 18(5 pieces, exeluding tea and cofl'ee cups and saucers, was one of the higli'liglits of the sale. It went for 12s 6d a pieee, one buyor taking the lot. Tlie cups and saucers realised 18s a set.
