Received Wednesday, 11 a.m. ' ° LONDON, August 13. Haifa is "simmering" following the departure of the first j two refugee ships for Cyprus, says Reuter's Haifa correspond- [ ent. The First British Infantry Divisional Head.quarters, l while the ships were leaving, deployed the biggest force used ■ at any time during the recent tension. Two Jews died from wounds received in ; an earlier clash with the police, following the violating of the * curfew. The curfew was lifted this afternoon.

Tlie Jewish Community Council in Jerusalem has ordered, from 4 p.m, until midnight, a general protest stsike of the Jewish commuiv ity. The radio, "Voice of Israel," today urged the whole Jewish comi munity to fight the new policy. The radio charged Britain wirh, "declaring war" against all Jewry Gnroughout the world. A Jewish Agency spokesman stated that the British action in1 deporting the immigrants had aroused anger, which the Govern-j ment statement had whipped up to a fury. He added that tne Gov■irnment's new decisions remove the last chances of an agreed and peaceful solution of the Palestine issue. The Government had done nothing in the past vear to allevi- j ate the suflering of European Jewry. It is reported from Haifa that the vessel named Finitsia, carrymg 65U refugees, has arrived. She is the third to arrive since the Yagour. The fourth vessel, sighted between Cyprus and Palestine, is named "Twenty-three" in memory of the Jewish Palestinian commandos drowned during the war.
