MORE WATER IN TAUPO

HAMILTON, August 12. With the storms that have swept the province over the past week also being experieneed in the Taupo area, the position in Lake Taupo is still showing a gradual improvement as far as its level, in eonjnnction with the storing of suflicient water for use in the Waikato River hydro-eleetric scliemes, is concerned. Today, the lake level is 1173 feet, or ' over one foot liigher than a little over a fortnight ago, but the level is still well below the average for this time of the year, and a great deal more rain is required to ensure that Taupo will be full at 1177 feet for the commencement of the summer.
