SIX CRUSHED TO DEATH
! GOLD MINS STRIKERS TRY TO STOP MEN RESUMING Received Wednesday, 10.30 a.m. J OHANNESBURG, Aug. 13. Six native labourers were killed in a stampede and six were wound1 ed by the police when 1500 strikers : from the gold mines attempted to , prevent a large number of other natives returning to'work. Those; killed were .crushed to death at the Stib Nigel Mine,;When the police fired on the strikerk, who attacked natives returning to work under police escort. Six others were injured. The attackers later surrendered their arms and returned to the duty chamber of the mines. It is reported that between 45,000 and 50,000' mine wgi'kers are still striking.
