DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 14. "As far as I am aware, and so far as I -am concerned, the story of the Southern Cross is completely without foundation," said Mr. K. J. Holyoake, M.P., this morning, when the subject of the leadership of the Nationai Party was mentioned to him. ... . " ,..-Mr. Holyoake, who is .cdnfined to bed with th'e 5flu, added: "I have only been one week back in New Zealand, and from my observations I am convinced that the Nationai Party has made considerable progress in the last few weeks, is thoroughly unified and in splendid shape to face the session and the approaching elections."
