The returns from the "straw". vote in r.egard to the new club' rooms Vvas not satisfactory, only 53 1 replies coming to hand to date. The secretary asked that members make up their minds one way or the other and send in their replies as soon as possible. Until a reasonable percentage of members cast; their vote it would be impossible for the branch to form any idea as ; to whether the proposed club was; wanted or not. In presenting the report and , balance sheet of the recently-held dance, the secretary advised tha; j owing to unfavourable weather j conditions prevailing on the even- j ing of the funct-ion the dance had j not been the success it was hoped j to be. It was decided that a welcome : home be extended to the recently ' returned J-Force personnel. After 1 discussion it was proposed to hold the function in the Druids' Hall on : August 19, arrangements for the 1 evening being left in the hands of ; the dance committee. ; A letter was received from thej secretary of the women's section. ; requesting the use of the supper • room of the hall for holding their. monthly meetings. As the women's 1 section meet 011 the same eveningsj as the men's branch, it was decided 1 that the request be granted. As both Messrs. Hook and Quinlan, the two delegates to the annual conference, were absent it ; was decided that the presentation of the conference report be held ; over until the next general meeting. It . was noted that the headquarters of the N.Z.R.S.A. had a supply of badges for the women m : sections.
