SHANNON LABOUR MEETING

The Shannon branch of the New Zealand Labour Party entertained a number of visitors to Shannon at their monthly meeting held last week. The president (Mr. R. E. Downes) extended a welcome to che visitors, who included Mr. Hansen, of the Land Saies Department, Mr. Kidd, of the Rehabilitation Department, Mr. Johnstone (president), Mr.. Cannon (vicepresident) and Mr. Gill, of the Manawatu Central branch, Palmerston North, Mr. R. Guy (Tokomaru), Mr. and Mrs. Titcombe and Mr. and Mrs. Podmore (Foxton), Mr. Wood (president) and Mr. Hurst (secretary) of the Manawatu L.R.C., and Mr.. P. Holloway, a visitor from Wellington. Mr. Holloway, who was formerly 011 the staff of Sir Stafford Cripps" newspaper in England, gave a most interesting address on his experiences in England and America. The large gathering of local members were very pleased with the gathering and a vote of thanks was extended to Mr. Holloway. The visitors were later entertained at s upper by the local members.
