The Government is starting to build up a 2,100,000,000 dollar war reserve stockpilQ o! eritical materials i'or emei'gency uSe, said the Fnder-Secretary oi War, Mr. Kenneth Roual. The stockpile would largely consist oi strategic materials unavailable in United Sta-tes, including asbestos, cliromite, Manila and sisal fibres, jewels, lead, pepper, ruliber, tin, zinc, and 'also surplus materials worth 300.000,000 dollars Irom the second World War. . Purchases would be spread over five years. Mr. Ricliard- Deupress, who is civilian President of the Munitions Board, said the purchases would be made with due regard ior civilian shortages, inflationary pressures and the economy oi foreign countries.
