LEAD IN GUIDED ROCKETS?

RUSSIAN DEVELOPMENT Received Sunday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, August 10. ; It is authoritatively stated thkt Russia has outpaced the Uniteil States in the development of lon£range guid-ed rocket weapons, states the Chicago Trihune's Washingtoh eorrespondent. Eighty Russian rockets lost their hearings and landefl. in Sweden and Norway. It was learned that the missilels were equipped with controls designed to guide them electronically back to their iaunching sites but the controls were faulty in the case of the runaway rockets. On the other hand, the United States Army and Navy have poured out millions of dollars on guided missile research without developing an accurate long-range weapon with a heavy punch. Major-General Henry Aurand, chief of the Army research section, is of opinion that the German V2 had serious shortcomings including inaccuracy. He added that Army Ordnance had not improved it.
