Personal * The death' occurred on Saturday . at Silverstream! Hospital of Mr. George Fredterick Whitehorn, brother to Mrs. F. Si Sirhcox,' of Otaki. The deceaj^ed, Who wa§ ^8 years of age, H'ad been in indifferen't health for some time. Mr. Whitehorn was well known in Otaki" and district. Mr. Jack Bennett, who passed £way ,in Wellington last week at the' age^ 'of ' 75 y'ea'rs, " was one of Wairarapa's best backs in his early days of football! He gained representative hopours," and while in the Carterton team was one of the smartest backs in the district. His father, Mr. Tom Bennett, resided in Otaki for a time, carrying out work as a carpenter, while two of Jack's brothers, Albert and Tim, also resided in Otaki many years ago. Heavy Hail Fall A heavy fall of hail was experienced in Otaki and district on Saturday afternoon, but luckily was of short duration. Boxers for Levin Tourney Otaki will be represented at the Levin Amateur Boxing Club's forthcoming tournament by a team of six promising boxers. Tree Planting Postponed • It had been arranged that treeplanting, and the clearing of the ground for the motor camp site take place on Saturday, but on account of the wet weather very little work was done by the few who attended. The Civic Theatre at Otaki was . broken into 011 Saturday night, or early on Sunday morning, and a sum of petty cash and stamps taken. Entrance was made by forcing the lock of the manager & office." The tin which contained the cash was found adjacent to Mr. A. J. Arcus' business premises in Rangiuru Road. Other money at the theatre was overlooked.
