WOMEN'S DIVISION
SHANNON BRANCH MEETS The following. were present on Monday afternoon for the monthly 'meeting of the- Shannon branch of ihe Women's Division of Federated Farmers: Mesdames C. Guerin president) , L. H. Best, A. R. Miils, j. A. Easton, J. Stevens, E. Ghester, j. Dujany and Miss Grace Smith. The secretary, Mrs. K. Thomson, \vas unable to be present through illness. Mrs. L. Wilson, a visitor from the Mananui W.D.F.F., was welcomed. A letter was read from the secrerary of the Horo whenua A. and P. Association enclosing a schedule of cpecial classes for Women's Insti.utes and W.D.F.F. for their next Hiow. It was decided to write to the secretary that members of the Shannon branch would send entries. The. schedules of the , needlework section for adults and children up to 15 years of age, were lianded out in order that those mterested in this section in the forthcoming show could make an early start with their work. Anyjne requiring a copy of the schedule may obtain one by applying to Mrs. Guerin. There are 34 classes in these sections. The housekeeping secretary, Mrs. Guerin, reported that she was unable to fulfill a housekeeping engagement required immediately. The monthly competitions resulted:—' Violets: Mrs. J. Stevens 1, Mrs. L. H. Best 2. Sausage nolls: | Mrs. C.: Guerin 1, Mrs. A- R- Mills 2, Mrs. J. Stevens .3. Article from .51b flour bag: Mrs. Mills 1, Mrs. Stevens 2, Mrs. Guerin 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. E. Cllester and Miss : Grace Smith, who was deputising for Mrs. C. Stern.
Moutoa Branch Meetins: There was a gopd attendance at : the monthly meeting of the Moutoa , branch of the W.D.F.F. held last i week. Two new members, Miss McDonald and Mrs. A. P. Easton .were elected. A report was given on the conference held at Wellington, and hnal arrangements were made for he shop day on August 23. Letters ! were read from recipients of food : uarcels sent to England. All those : who had received Moutoa's parcels were very high in their praise, and tixpressed great appreciation for the generous parcels. Mrs. A. P. Easton gave a very interesting talk on "Night Life in Paris." Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Rollett, Upton and Miss Spring.
