TO INQUIRE INTO BASIC WAGE
Received Friday, 10.15 p.m. CANBERRA, Aug. 9. ' Mr. Chifley will set up a eommittee of employers and employees to inquire into the basic wage. The eommittee is lu be established 011 the understanding that 110 reconnnendations by it win liave legal staiuling, that under tne Constitution, no power exists in tne Federal Parliament to impJenient tne eommittee 's lindings, and that tlie basic wage must tinally ue determined liy tne Aroitration Court.
