ALL-NIGHT ^ESSION IN AUSTRALIA Received Ericlay, 9.50 p.m. CANBERRA, August 9. Fatigued and tuisliaven, Members of the House of Representatives reassemhled again late this morning after a wild 48-hour spate of legislation. An all-night session lasted until 6 a.m. today. Measures such as the Bill for the standardisation of railway gauges which has "been a national question for 30 j^ears, were rushed through in a few minutes hy exhausted Memhers intent only on getting home to their electorates. (There is an election in the otfing.) The Opposition leader, Mr. Menzies, protested strongly during the all-night sitting, against important legislation heing rushed through without adequate discussion. Since Wednesday the I-Iouse has dealt with 18 measufes affecting the lives and welfare of' Australians for years to come. . Before the luncheon acljournment today the Senate passed seven Bills through all stages in half an hour.
