Brilliant Meteor A very bright meteor with a long tail was witnessed at about 8.30 on Tuesday night at Auckland. Ex- Service Bursars Twenty-one ex-servicemen were granted bursaries during the month of June, enabling them to journey overseas under the Rehabilitation Board's overseas bursaries scheme, says a statement from the Rehabilitation Department. This brought the total granted until the end of tliat month to.,387. The bursaries are to a value of £250 a year sterling plus living and other expenses. Of those so far granted 118 have been for studies in post-graduate medicine, the next highest beihg 30 for the doctorate of philosophy. Other subjects, there being 31 in all, range from architecture and town . planning to veterinary science and from nursing to public and local administration. Future Sanatorium Policy Plans for the inclusion of the Wellington hospital district in the scheme of the combined western districts' hospital boards for a west coast tuberculosis sanatorium have been carried a stage further by the appointment of a sub-committee' to confer with representatives of the Wellington Hospital Board, stated the chairman of the committee (Mr. J. A. Nash) last night. It comprises Messrs. Nash (Palmerston North) , T. C. Kincaid (Wanganui) and P. E. Stainton (New Plymouth) . Arrangements have been made for a conference to be held in Palmerston North on August 16, when details will be considered for an agreement under which the Wellington district might be included in the combined western hospital boards' district. .Any proposals at which the conference might arrive will be submitted to the existing Western Districts' Hospital Boards' Joint Sanatorium Committee for approval. The conference will be held in committee.
