Bramble Song a Warm Favourite

L.M

.M.)

I Findon and Soneri on Flat

(SPECIAL— FROM

WELLINGTON, This Day. The Grancl National meeting will be continued at Riccarton to-morrow, when the going is expected to be in good order. The t'eature event on the programme to-morrow will be the Grand National Hurdles in which Bramble Song, winner of the Great Northern Hurdles, has becorae a warm favourite. Others in dejnand are Blue Title, Brantome, Boolamskee and Prize Ring. Dumbo is attempting to equal F&dishah's 1939 recofd of winnihg both Nationals in the same season. Excellent fields are carded in all events and the racing should be interesting throughout. The meeting will conclude on the following Saturday, when the main jumping event will be the Lincoln Steeplechase.

j During the running of the Win- | ter Cup F'indon was unlucky to j strike trouble early and it was not j until two furlongs from home that | he escaped out of a pocket and set i sail for the leaders. He was finish- . ing on strongly into sixth place. The extra quarter mile in the Islington Handicap to-morrow will ; not trouble him. Longsword pulled up well after the Winter Cup and it would not surprise if he goes a ' good race to-morrow. Soneri and : Leigh Barton are both also in the open mile, the August Handicap, a race it is understood they will con- : test. If that proves eorrect then it looks like Soneri again proving : tough to beat, as she is in the peak of her form. The Hawke's Bay Hunt fixture ; will also be held to-morrow at , Hastings. Betting will be win and place at both meetings. Prospects for both fixtures are: AT RICCARTON
