Two Xe\v Zealanders wa^ked off witli one knockout, one technical knoekout anrl two with points victories at the 34th Australian Brigade's boxing quarter-linals last night-. The five Kiwis were attracted to Hiro by prospects of a good night '3 iigliting — and two davs' leave. Edwards, of Sydney, scored the Australian 's only victory when he gained a points decision over Christiansen, of Ngaruawahia. Edwards gave an alniost) perfeet displav in what "was easily the best encounter of the night. At one stage he got in a beautiful left to the jaw which staggered Christiansen, but failed to follow up. Christiansen fought back well and at the end of the bout was giving his best display. Dodd, of Te Awamutu, gave Chalpiers 14 stone and still whipped him. Faster footwork and lightning stabs gave the New Zealander his victory. At one stage he got in four hard lefts to the. faoe against two liglit punches on the gloves. The less experienced Chalmers was uncomfortable in tlie in-fighting and tried to clinch but if more of his sweeps to the head had landed, Dodd would have been in difficulties. "Boots" AUister, a Gfith Battalion bootmaker, was well below his usual standard and Almoa, of Grey Lynn, Auckland, had it his own way to get an easy decision. Allister went down for eight in the third round and the Kiwi 'a light treatment of ihe groggy man appealed to thp audience. The semi-flnals on Saturday will be fought at Fukvama wlien there will also be exhibition wrestling.
