Personal Mrs. E. Tooby, who has been senously ill in a private hospital, is now reported to be making satisfactory progress. Mr. Alf Marshall, of Auckland, and step-son of the late Mr. L. Kilmister and son of the late Mrs. Kilmister, was among the visitors to Otaki during the week. Leading Wren M. Greenaway, of Waikanae, is among the members of the New Zealand contingent to the victory parade in London due to arrive by the Maunganui on Tuesday next. The funeral took place at Carterton yesterday of Mrs. Eaton, mother of Mr. R. Eaton, of Otaki. There was a representative attendance, and the ReV. Mr. Stent conducted impressive services at St. Mark's Church and the graveside. Several lovely floral tributes were placed on the casket. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was dressed in blue and carried a bouquet of dusky pink roses and blue delphiniums. She was attcnded by her sister, Mrs. A. H. Ilall, who wore dusky pink and also carried a bouquet of roses and blue delphiniums. Mr. J. Lima was best man. Arbor Day To-morrow Arbor Day will be observed in Otaki to-morrow, when tree planting at the new camp at Tasman Beaeh will bc carried out.
ScIupoI Drill Display At a meeting of the Otaki State School Committee this week the headmaster (Mr. J. E. James^ advised that a physical drill demonstration would be given at the school on Wednesday, August 21, at 1.30 p.m. Miss Eichelbaum, physical education specialist, would • be in charge and all those interested • were invited to attend. Trainer Cbangcs Quarters Mr. E. Baker, who formerly trained at Otaki, but has recently been at Awapuni, has made another change of quarters. On Monday he transferred to Woodville, and will reside there in future. He took with him Beau Jewel, a two-year-old colt by Beaulivre, and Kumari, a two-year-old fllly by Arvakur from Koa Wahine.
