The announcement was made yesterday by Mr. H. Atmore, M.P. for Nelson, that he would not be a candidate at the general election. Mr. Atmore has been the member for Nelson for 30 years. His first term was from 1911 to 1914. He was re-elected in 1919 and has retained the seat ever since.
