AMERICAN ATHLETES' TOUR
TENTATIVE ITINERARY WELLIN GT ONr. Au g* . 7. Apart from Canterbury, which thought the time was too soon after the war, amateur athletic centres throughout the Dominion have indicated to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that they will give full support to the proposed visit of the American atlrletes. In a letter read at a nieeting of the N.Z.A.A.A. last night, Canterbury qualified its objection by agreeing to fall into line if the majority of centres were in favour of the tour. The tentative dates for the tourists" itin6rary were' outlined as follows by the se'cretary, Mr. J. W. Holley: January 18, 1947, at Auckland; January 22, Hamilton; January 25, Wanganui; January 29, West Coast of North Island; February 1. Wellington; February 5, Otago; February 8, Dunedin; February 12, Canterbury; February 15, Christchurch; February 19, Wellington; February 22, Napier; February 26, Auckland. Centres are to be advised that providing the suggestion meets with their approval, any financial loss by individual centres shall be a charge against the profits of the tour. A return of guarantees to be forwarded by centres would, of course, be a first charge against the profits.
