MINERS TURN DEAF EAR

New So'utli Wales railways faced a complete collapse at tlie end of the year if the miners took their annuai holidays, warned Mr. Chifley when he conferred with officials of the Labour Council and Transport Unions. The spokesman for fhe deputation said that even if every miner worked every day between now and the mine holidays 20 weeks away, stocks could not be built up to carry the industry over the lioliday period. Mere than 2000 mine workers today turned a deaf ear to urgent appeals for increased production. The output loss was 8000 tons of coal.
