OBITUARY

The late Mr. Len.- Kilmister, who died somewhat suddenly on Wednesday 'morning, was oorn in Wellington some 72 years ago; and was educated at -the Terrace. School, afterwards taking "up residence at Belmont in 1389, where he assisted In farm work with the late Mr. David Judd. -He left that district about '■ 1898, and accompanied. his father to Moera (Waiwetu) , finally arriving in Otaki in 1905, where he invested in land, securing among other property the valuable area^at Otaki Railway where he resided"till the date of his death. Mrs. Kilmister predeceased him a little over two years ago. , - During his stay in Otaki Mr. Kilmister carried on f arm . t >work, assisted by his brother, Bert, and later was a successful commercial grower, his land yielding ' some excellent crops. Mr. Kilmister proved a very successful," grower, and invested in various house properties at Otaki, Otaki Raiiway and the beach. He resided till the time of his„ death at the home he had buil't at Otaki Railway. Of recent years Mr. Kilrpister had not enjoyed - the best of health, probably due to a fall from a ladder some years ago. He-was a keen sport in his early days, playing repres'entatiVe -■ hockey at Waiwetu and Otaki, and also act-; ing as a referee, and was also a valued member'of the Horowhenua Hockey Association. In hisyounger days he indulged in football, while of later years was a prominent bowler and an officer of'the Otaki Club. Mr. Kilmister's father died many years ago but his mother resided in Otaki for some years, with'ner two sons. Mrs. 3". Baiimber . (Lower Hutt) is a sister, and Mr. Bert Kilmister (Lower Hiitt) a brother. Two sisters, .Mrs. Mcllvride and Mrs. Grant, died some time ago. A niece, Miss Mcllvfide, at present ifi VU'taki, /and several nephews and" f niefces ' are left to mourn their Iqss. . . ■ The funeral took place on Friday and was .atcended by a large gatheri'ng of relatives and friends. '
