■ 1 ^ Personal The death occurred at Wellington on Friday of Mrs. Margaret Campion, for many years a resident of Reikorangi. The funeral took place at Otaki this morning, after an impressive service at the Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jepson, who fiave been on holiday in the South Island, returned to their home on Friday, pleased with their sojourn. During the trip, Mr. Jepson, who is greatly interested in farming, inspected several of the holdings in the South. Ruxton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Noble, now of Kaitaia, was specially mentioned at a children's fancy dress ball in Kaitaia and rewarded for his costume, representative of a fireman, with helmet, axe, etc. He received a special prize. . The death occurred at the Wellington Hospital this morning of Mr. Thomas Morean, for many years a well-known .resident oi Otaki. The deceased, who was 32 years of age, met with an accident in Wellington some months ago, and had never made a complete recovery. He leaves an adult family to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place at Otaki on Wednesday. At the home of Mrs. Sandford, members of the Paekakariki Women's Institute recently met to farewell one of their number, Mrs. Whe'tton, who is leaving the district. Mrs. Judd presented her with a shoulder spray on her arrival and the president handed her a gift from members as a token of appreciation. Mrs. Whetton was accorded musical honours. Items were given by Mrs. Mackintosh and Mrs. Whetton. Sea Horses Washed Up It is usual at this time of the year for spiny sea horses to be washed up on beaches. Of recent datc several have been found on the Otaki Beach and they have been forwarded to Mr. Phillipps, of the Dominion Museum. The specimens of note were found by Mr. R. ! Paync and Mr. W. Fielding. . i Musical Treat The Otaki Brass Band, under the conductorship of Mr. Dinnison, visited the Otaki Sanatorium yesterday afternoon and played a number of flne . selections, to th$ evident enjoyment of the staff, patients and visitors. The band has made good progress of recent date, due to energetic memoers, and their 'visit was fully .appreciated. Thanks were uccorded the bandsmen, who were also entertained at afternoon tea. Further visits will be made' and without' doubt will be as warmly appreciated as that on Sunday.
