As a Sydney girl with a year-old son boarded the steamer Taiping to join lier American husband in Okinawa, she reeeived a telephone call from liim saving lic had just arrived at Brisbane on speeial leave to see her. Had the ship sailed on time tlie couple would have missed each otlier. There was some eonfusion as the transport ofiicials tried to persuade lier to remain on tlie vessel but a minute before sailing time she went asliore. The decision was a liappy one for lier husband arrived by air from Brisbane v, itliin a few hours.
